Beverly Hills’ Crystal Method

February 19, 2009  2:26 pm

Nadja Swarovski’s pre-Oscar celebration on the roof of the Thompson hotel in Beverly Hills attracted designers like Alexander McQueen, Viktor & Rolf, Jonathan Saunders, and Doo-Ri Chung. Well, their designs, anyway. Swarovski collections by McQueen et al., among others, were displayed poolside Wednesday night, where gem fans like Kate Walsh, Liz Goldwyn, and Angie Harmon took them in. “The more people discover our product, the more interpretations of Swarovski are out there,” Swarovski said, in town from London to attend Sunday’s Oscars. “I’m going to the ceremony because I have to check out the Swarovski curtain, which weighs three tons and was designed by David Rockwell.” Crystal leftovers from the curtain have been recycled into handbags for the Academy Award winners—a gift even eco-loving Leo DiCaprio could love. Other guests, like Jen Rade, clad in L.A.M.B. with Swarovski crystals, were ready for a post-Oscar break. “I’m drinking red wine to get through,” laughed the stylist best known for dressing Angelina Jolie. “I’m counting the days and hours until it’s over.”
