Blasblog: Kanye West’s New Fashion First

We here at Style File have almost obsessively covered the fashion dalliances of Kanye West. From his first shows, seasons ago, to his Louis Vuitton sneakers at couture, when Kanye was there, so were we. And just when we thought we’d chronicled every part of his life in his hobby career, Sunday turned out to be another first. At Band of Outsiders, West popped his presentation cherry. “I like the excitement of the runway,” West said at the low-key viewing. “But I’m digging this, too.” While most editors merely observe the wares, West felt obliged to break the fourth wall and hop into a few of the scenes for the fun of it. And while he was in there, why not drag his colorful posse in with him and pose for some pictures? Needless to say, West was digging Scott Sternberg’s collection. “I love what Scott does,” West said, showing off the boots Sternberg collaborated on with Sperry last season. “For me, the future of menswear is Scott and Thom [Browne]. They’ll be the Ralph Laurens one day.”
