Eggs In The Snow

February 11, 2009  4:22 pm

Elise Crombez, Simon Doonan, Eva Amurri, and assorted editors and social types toasted Pollini’s Jonathan Saunders at a lunch at La Grenouille yesterday. Saunders, whose sophomore Pollini effort will hit the runway in Milan on March 2, is in town to present his signature collection in a Chelsea gallery this Sunday night. Talk ranged from the Grammys (Radiohead took top honors for best performance) to the recession’s effect on fashion week (flats will be the footwear of choice—no town cars!) to Les Oeufs à la Neige. Those would be La Grenouille’s signature gold-dusted giant meringues. Saunders, whose plane was delayed thanks to London’s unusually wintery weather, mingled during the dessert course. Guess he’s seen enough snow. —Nicole Phelps
