Haute Tech

Fashion week has a tendency to make me into something of a complaint-generating machine. If it’s nighttime, I’m probably complaining about my feet. (”It’s not the walking—it’s the standing!”) In the daytime, chances are high that I am complaining—a lot—about my laptop. Why must it be so heavy? Why is it impossible to find Wi-Fi in west Chelsea? And why—finally—must the damn beloved thing be so desperately unchic an object to lug around? Macqua designer Meike Vollmar has heard my pleas, apparently. Vollmar, who will be showing her Fall ‘09 collection of Art Nouveau-inspired cool-girl clothes this afternoon at Eyebeam, is introducing a laptop case to her line of bags this season. And I swear, it’s the chicest laptop case ever. Made of ruched leather, the case comes in three colors and presents less like a tech accessory than an oversize clutch. Vollmar has given me one less thing to complain about. Now if only she could do something about the weather.
