Richard Chai And Bruno Frisoni: Strap Happy

February 18, 2009  11:42 am

“Sexy and strappy.” That’s about all Richard Chai is willing to divulge about the shoes he’s showing with his Fall ‘09 womenswear collection today. Designed by Chai with Bruno Frisoni, the sexy, strappy heels mark Frisoni’s first true collaborative shoe design effort—and Chai says he counts himself lucky. “I feel very privileged to have worked with Bruno on the shoes, because in general he likes to keep his process pretty private,” notes Chai of Frisoni, who has in the past loaned shoes to Peter Som and, for her presentation last week, adapted styles for Monique Lhuillier. “I guess since we’re talking about Bruno, I’m not giving away too much if I say that the heels are high,” added Chai. “Really high.” The designer was equally circumspect when asked what his clothes are going to look like this season. “Joyful,” he said, with a smile. But that’s all he would say.
