Designer update

Uni-Shoes

February 18, 2009  3:56 pm

Count Tiffany Tuttle the latest designer to get in on the whole unisex trend. The LD Tuttle shoe designer is debuting three boy/girl styles for Fall ‘09⏼′one of which will make a preview appearance at the Erin Wasson x RVCA presentation tonight. “We gave Erin two styles of boot, both kind of rocker-looking,” explained Tuttle. “The one with the high heel and mesh insert is just for women, obviously, but the flat boot we’re doing unisex.” Tuttle, who also collaborated with Matthew Ames this season and who co-designs the VPL footwear range with Victoria Bartlett, went on to explain that her aesthetic tends to have androgynous appeal. “I’ve done shoes and boots in the past where guys have asked me, ‘Why doesn’t this come in my size?’ ” she notes. “So I thought, ‘Why not?’” We’re inclined to agree; with YSL and Chloë Sevigny on the unisex bandwagon we might as well have shoes to share, as well.
