Now that we aren’t doing daily fashion show production, I can take time to really enjoy those full-screen views of the shows. As I was spending some quality time with Balmain yesterday, it struck me that there were witty little Chanelisms—like chains (looks 14 and 18) and quilting (looks 26 and 28)—worked into a collection that combined more direct references to Velvet Goldmine, Robert Palmer’s “Addicted to Love” video, and the French Voguettes. Can you see what I see?

absolutely! and there were lots of big pretty bows on blouses and along the waist to go along with the chains and quilting…i’d love it if there were a bunch of pink swarovski crystals mixed in with all the others on those terrific jackets and skinny jeans.
By kerileanne on 03/26/09 at 3:04 pmSorry Laird but I don’t see what you see, if I look to the videos, it’s depressing me. Only Galliano and a some of the designs of McQueen are making me an optimist. But please let us be honest, this season was overall a disappointing one. Actually caused by the economic situation in this world, but you could expect more from Donatella or Miuccia and others. And (may God have his soul) the video of Robert Palmer never upsett me or is interesting to me, I look more to streetstyle. And then I mean what the girls/woman wears on the street and not in a video, that’s pure entertainment and has nothing to do with fashion. Arriverderci
