Dior Joaillerie: Dreamy

March 10, 2009  2:27 pm

Only a very big jewelry box could house Victoire de Castellane’s outsize, irrepressibly imaginative creations for Dior Joaillerie this season, and that’s just what we discovered at our appointment at the company’s Paris headquarters yesterday. Peering over its side to show off her Idylle aux Paradis collection of cuffs, some of which convert into brooches or pendants (two for the price of one—so today!), she said the jewels were built “sur un rêve.” It sounds like our kind of dream, one in which a man in love with a woman gives her jewelry inspired by every corner of the world in which they tryst. The Idylle à Kyoto bracelet of white gold, diamonds, emeralds, jade, and mother-of-pearl also boasts a carved coral rose inspired by a geisha’s red lips. The eight bracelets are all one of a kind, and each one took nearly a year to make. So if your man—hell, if you—still have bauble money to burn, stop dreaming and get to Avenue Montaigne vite.
