Doing It For The Kids

March 6, 2009  11:41 am

An interesting mix of characters—swimsuit models, reality stars, socialites, and Geraldo Rivera—came out to Valentino’s Madison Avenue boutique last night, all in the name of New Yorkers for Children. “A year and a half ago I had an epiphany that it’s time to give back. There are 17,000 foster children in New York, so this is a really important cause,” said Alina Cho, one of the hosts of the Vogue-sponsored event; Cho also mentors a 17-year-old girl. Shimmying to the tunes of DJ Paul Sevigny, Erin Fetherston was getting one more NYC party in before jaunting off to Paris for sales. “We lived there for so long it’s almost like going home,” she said. “It’s ironic, but the first thing I have to do in Paris is go straight to the Japanese tea salons. I’m a big green tea drinker.” Champagne was the drink of choice for Real Housewives of New York City reality oddities Alex McCord and Simon van Kempen, who were partying in the back of the store. Geraldo’s raison d’être remained, despite our best efforts, a mystery.
