Edun’s Current Acronym: SFO, Not LVMH

March 25, 2009  3:14 pm

“Everyone keeps asking us that,” laughed Ali Hewson last night at Macao in Tribeca, where she hosted a small dinner for Edun. That, of course, is whether LVMH is taking a financial interest in the socially conscious label. The rumor was prompted by a statement made by Bernard Arnault in the last issue of WSJ, the Wall Street Journal’s glossy, where he cryptically mentioned being “in talks to invest in a fashion company with ecological and ethical goals founded by a global celebrity.” No matter how you do your fashion math, that adds up to Edun. “I wish it were true,” added Hewson, who is headed even further west to San Francisco, where she’ll be joining forces with boutique Clary Sage Organics, kicking off a two-week-long Edun pop-up shop there with a “Fair Trade in Spring” party and Fall trunk show tomorrow night. “I’ll be there in the cold and mist,” said Hewson. “It’s just like Ireland.”
