From Milan, Gabriele Colangelo Is One to Watch
Milan fashion week often comes and goes without any new names on the calendar. But editors and retailers who skipped Friday night cocktails in favor of attending Gabriele Colangelo’s second runway show were treated to a collection that navigated the trends—shoulders, a mineral palette, sophisticated draping—with a lighter, more assured touch than many of his more experienced peers. The 34-year-old is the son of a furrier and an alum of Roberto Cavalli, experiences he put to use to create this subtly sparkling shift dress with pleated paneling, along with other highlights like a sharply tailored wool coat with fused astrakhan sleeves, and another shift with hand beading on its pleats. We hear that Blake in Chicago, Linda Dresner in Michigan, Savannah in L.A., and Harvey Nichols in London have placed orders.
