Hood Ornaments at Fendi

Designers often find inspiration in strange places, but the cover of National Geographic is a new one. Was Karl Lagerfeld purposely referencing the infamous Afghan Girl image from the mag’s June 1985 cover when he put Andreea Stancu in this red hood? You be the judge.

The Afgan girl was gorgeous. This image is not. The makeup here is rather awful. Fashion photographers who “sample” photojournalism are losers.
