Paris Highlights: Le Beat Goes On

March 4, 2009  3:10 pm

With just one day of rest between Milan’s Extreme blow-out Monday night and today’s shows in Paris, RTW devotees are gearing up for the Month of Fashion’s final lap. Paris, like its metropolitan counterparts, is scaling back a bit this season (we hear Givenchy’s dark-and-rocking after-party has been canceled, for one), but the French city is still hosting more than its share of feuding fêtes.

Gareth Pugh returns to the City of Light again this week, but his after-party—tonight at the Passage du Désir—will have a touch of London to it: Alistair Allan, Boombox’s famed shutterbug, will be snapping away (stock up on glitter and face paint).

Magazine editor-slash-newly minted online diarist-slash-nightlife impresario Olivier Zahm has teamed up with André and Jean-Yves Le Fur to relaunch sixties club-scene staple Le Montana. Next to the storied Café de Flore, it’s got a revamped aesthetic courtesy of Vincent Darré. It opens Thursday, and Diane von Furstenberg, for one, will be there. She’s the latest cover model for Zahm’s Purple mag, after all.

Fresh from her Love cover, Beth Ditto and the Gossip will be crooning to revelers next Wednesday at Fendi’s post-show fête—fast becoming a must-attend music event for fans of controversial Brit acts (last year’s headliner was Amy Winehouse). As for Karl’s other label, guests at his and Jefferson Hack’s dinner chez Coco on Rue Cambon next Tuesday can flip through Another Fashion Book, published by Lagerfeld’s personal printing press, Edition 7L, before it goes on sale at Colette.

As for the shows, expect a crowded house at Marco Zanini’s debut presentation for Rochas on Thursday. Same goes for that evening’s Nina Ricci show, heavily rumored to be Olivier Theyskens’ last. And, for one last spin on your dance card, Charlize Theron is tipped to be attending downtown It girl fave label Sophomore’s late-night bash at Le Baron on Friday. You hear that, Milan? We see your Scarlett, and we raise you.
