Preppies, Punk’d

March 24, 2009  12:07 pm

Not every high school can inspire a musical. As The New York Times reported this weekend, the exclusive and seemingly idyllic Miss Porter’s School (Jackie O’s alma mater) was more like a little shop of horrors for one senior, who is now suing. It seems as though reality is a lot more like Mean Girls than Gossip Girl, which, WWD reports, is soon to have its reality TV counterpart on Bravo, NY Prep. Assuming that U.E.S. high schoolers have been following Gossip Girl and probably identifying themselves as Blairs or Serenas—like grown-ups used to categorize themselves as Carries or Samanthas—does NY Prep have any chance of being anything other than a case of life imitating art? And really, who needs reality when there’s Chuck Bass? Tell us if you’d tune in.
