Designer update

Ruff Crowd: The Cavalli Canine

March 10, 2009  11:54 am

Leave it to the designer who launched an exclusive credit card during a credit crisis to keep providing us with slightly absurd, yet kind of awesome accoutrements for luxe living. The latest: Roberto Cavalli Pets. Though the Cavallis own a full menagerie, including two monkeys, seven parrots, and an iguana, RCP is solely for man’s best friend. Their dogs—one St. Bernard and two Bichon Frises, the latter of which have surely test-driven some of RCP’s key items—were who Cavalli had in mind for the line’s satin-trimmed bathrobes and little shearling jackets. (RCP is made for small to medium pooches, though custom pieces are an option.) RCP makes use of Cavalli’s signature leopard print, but—to stave any feeling of unease on the part of the wearer—renders the big cat’s spots in little doggie paws. Darling Fido probably won’t mind once he’s nestled into the sumptuous satin lining of a quilted patent carrier that has a matching passport wallet, collar, and lead. Roberto Cavalli Pets hits all Cavalli
boutiques at the end of this month.
