Cannes Watch: Asia Argento

Peekaboo undergarments were a bona fide Fall ‘09 runway trend—see Balenciaga, Yves Saint Laurent, Maison Martin Margiela. But Asia Argento, pictured here in a Chanel gown at the Cannes Chopard Trophy event, is one of the first starlets to test-drive the look on the red carpet. The frock’s plunging neckline and sheer overlay do little to disguise what’s essentially a jeweled bandeau. Would you wear something like this? Or is it a style better left in the bedroom?

  4. Sorry Romney, but this is a beautiful dress. There’s nothing Peekaboo about it. It’s just a simple gown it fits her well so what is all the fuzz about bedrooms etc. I really don’t understand sometimes your comments on dresses. Is it only because US citizens are so prude? I don’t belive that, when the curtains are closed they do the same thing a European would do. So I hope that once this discussion (in the States, what is or not allowed to show) will be over. By the way in this pic she wears only a bracelett or is it a watch? A nice necklace would be prefered, if it is in gold or whatever material, it would make the dress more visible. Arriverderci
