Fawning Over Faunesque

May 5, 2009  8:45 pm

With Kate Moss’ 18-carat turban-crowning Harry Winston sapphire seered into memory, and Solange Azagury-Partridge’s store opening party on the schedule for tonight, we’ve got jewelry—big jewelry—on the brain. So there’s no better time to introduce you to the work of Albino D’Amato. When the Milan ready-to-wear designer set about creating jewels for his Fall show, he was thinking big, too. The new collection—made of brass, bronze, silver, and Swarovski crystals and called “Faunesque”—takes its inspiration from mythology, grotesqueries, and the animal world. Carp, owls, and monkeys caper on outsize rings, necklaces, and bracelets. Ranging in price from about $650 to $2,000, the collection will be unleashed in stores in July.
