It’s official: London-based designer Marios Schwab is Halston’s newest creative director. Schwab, whose Greek and Austrian heritage is almost as exotic as brand founder Roy Frowick’s Midwestern one, will show his first collection, for Fall 2010, in February. [WWD]
Angelina, Brad, and Diane could be left in the dark at the much-touted Inglourious Basterds premiere today if French electrical workers pull the plug in Cannes as part of their strike efforts. As long as the flashbulbs on the Croisette still work, all will be well. [WWD]
Craig McDean’s shots of the khaki confections whipped up by the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund wunderkids for the Gap are here, giving you until June 16 to pick your recession-friendly faves. Will it be Alexander Wang’s motorcycle jacket, or Vena Cava’s embellished shift? Which do you think are the best looks? [WWD]

So excited by Schwab being at Halston, he’s exactly what the brand and NYC needs to get the energy back after what’s been such a flat couple of seasons (thanks economy. Check out this write up which compares him to Ghesquiere at Balenciaga: http://nuevemusas.wordpress.com/2009/05/20/schwab-in-at-halston/
