Love At First Sight: Sperry For Jeffrey

June 4, 2009  3:46 pm

What: A preppy classic gets kicked up a notch

Why: Your neon better be on—the eighties are back with a vengeance. Anybody itching to incorporate a little Flashdance-era flash into their wardrobes before the decade-dominated Fall collections hit stores should slip into a pair of Sperry’s limited-edition Top-Siders, designed exclusively for Jeffrey New York. The punchy patent numbers feature the brand’s signature white sole and moc stitching, and the quirky barrel laces will keep you from coming undone on the high seas or the hot sidewalks. Particularly for Southern preppies like me, the high-voltage colors on a familiar favorite are a fun way to don the trend without looking like I’m wearing a costume.

Where: $120, at Jeffrey New York, 449 W. 14th St., NYC

  1. I am loving the 80s inspired trend for fall! I agree that it is sometimes difficult to pull it off without looking like you are wearing a costume, but this shoe is perfect. Also, it’s always fun to see a traditional item with a funky spin. Thanks!
