Ralph Lauren And Richard Branson Celebrate Wimbledon

June 19, 2009  1:28 pm

The first sight that greeted us at Ralph Lauren’s annual Wimbledon party at London’s Kensington Roof Gardens was model David Gandy, i.e., the face of Dolce & Gabbana and owner of those abs. Gandy didn’t seem bothered about the news of Jesus Luz walking exclusively for Dolce: “We’re all cool. I have a long-term relationship with the company—and I am very loyal,” he grinned. “But I am doing other things, too. I’m going to be writing a monthly column on motoring for a new magazine called Fash-ism coming out next month.” Sounds like a must-read. Also in attendance were former Destiny’s Child Kelly Rowland, royals like the Duchess of York and Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice, and, of course, top seeds Ana Ivanovic and the Williams sisters. Serena Williams looked particularly stunning in gold harem pants from Ralph Lauren’s Spring collection—”aren’t these the coolest things you have seen?”—and a gold bangle stretched across her bicep. Sir Richard Branson hosted: “Listen, we have tennis, gardens, freezing weather, and strawberries and cream,” he said. “That pretty much sums up a perfect English summer party.”
