Replacement Rumors, Ungaro Upset, And More…

June 5, 2009  10:29 am

Wrap your heads around this impressive piece of gossip: Karl Lagerfeld is out at Chanel; Albert Elbaz is in; and Olivier Theyskens is heading to Lanvin. Were you sitting down? (Remember, it’s just a rumor.) [A Shaded View on Fashion]

Blame it on Lohan: Esteban Cortazar is reportedly out at Emanuel Ungaro after clashing with execs over their “marketing and advertising strategy,” which included plans for lots of Lindsay. Who will take Cortazar’s place? [WWD]

In honor of World Environment Day, here are some “don’ts” in the world of ethical fashions. In light of these, let’s steer clear of all faux porcupine collars, okay? [The Guardian]

  1. Hahaha these are all rumours, but I wish they came true. Especially Mr. Lagerfeld has to resign. I said it already two years ago and the collections he showed us the last couple of years (seasons) are supporting my critics on him. Nonetheless I will still see him as one of the greatest designers of the last 40? years. About Mrs. Lohan everywhere were she is is always a lot of noice. Don’t forget this ‘celeb’ needs attention to make her career ongoing, is she worth all the rumors or gossip? I don’t think so, but this is mine personal opinion. I know that there are a lot of people which adores her, but if you look to the person Lindsay you can only hope that she finds herself back and don’t behave herself as an spoiled kid. Arriverderci

  2. Oh Alison, I forgot to tell something, which you sure know. Talking about Chanel and Mr. Lagerfeld, there is a new movie/film about Coco Chanel (her real first name was actually Gabrielle) So it has to be Gabrielle Chanel. The film is made by Anna Fontaine and after seeing the preview I have to recommand it to all the fashionistas around the world. It’s about her younger years and the love she had for the British industrial Boy Capel, after his tragic death she became the designer we are all proud off. She never married, because her great love was gone, which she once said. This is really a great Fashion movie and the premiere is in London starting at July 31, 2009 and then can be seen around the world cinemas. Arriverderci

  4. First Alison I never named the movie, I see?? It’s called Coco avant Chanel, or in English Coco before Chanel. Maybe you’ve seen it already but officially the premiere is in London?? on the date I mentioned before. Now to you my dear PEliason, Fashion is about the future and not about the past, it’s the same with the house of Valentino, Alessandra Facchinetti didn’t even get the chance to show what she is capable of and you know why? Because the house is focused on the ‘older ladies’ which have money and close their eyes for new clients. This is the same with Chanel, some fresh blood (a new designer) would do the Chanel brand good, I’m sure of it. Since most of the European brand/labels are in the hands of some big holdings, like PPR or LVMH the creativity and innovation is gone. I admire you for the fact that you still stand behind Mr. Lagerfeld, but look further and be honest. It’s better that he resign. Arriverderci
