Win A Style.com Internship

August 13, 2009  1:35 pm

If tickets to Stella McCartney’s upcoming show or a day behind the scenes at a W magazine shoot don’t have you clicking until your fingers hurt, might we tempt you with an internship at Style.com? All three are up for grabs online, and the winning bids will help support the Ellen P. Hermanson Breast Health Center at Southampton Hospital. The internship offers a student the opportunity to assist on photo shoots, learn the ins and outs of the fashion closet, and see firsthand what goes into publishing a fashion Web site. Sounds like a one-of-a-kind opportunity to us, but maybe we’re biased.

  3. Although donating money to charity is always fantastic, the idea that an internship should be granted to the highest bidder (rather than the most qualified/deserving prospect) is a little unnerving.

  4. is this applied for students internationally?

  6. Wow, I work my butt off trying to make contacts and get an internship. Now I have to shell out $800.00 ..that’s sad

  7. lucky you if you get someone who’s actually capable, not just rich.

oh wait, the former trait probably isn’t necessary for whatever’s being auctioned off :)

  8. To have to bid for the opportunity to become an intern is pretty unfair. That is like saying the more money you have the better chance you have to get this job. What happened to talent and earning a job/opportunities based on your abilities. Yes it is important to give to charity but this internship would be best offered to someone who has earned it and not bought it.

  9. Where do we enter for this ???

  10. I would work for the charitable rganization equivalent hours to supply the winning bid. How unfortunate that I couldn’t get the chance to get an opportunity to work for Style. Just because i don’t have the money. Still a struggling student. Good luck to the winning bid, and hope you appreciate it. In the meantime i will still make a donation to the Ellen P. Hermanson Breast Health center an suggest all posters o do the same. Go Style. Johnnie

  11. really? its so kind of style.com to reach out to their lowly readers desperately trying to work for them.

    how nice.

no one should be doing this. not cool, not cool at all.

  12. I find this rather outrageous. Donating money for charity is very noble but this seems to be aimed for rich people. As the bidding is at the moment is $700 this shows how they censor who will intern with them. I wonder which daddy’s little princess will get this opportunity.

  13. Great, another opportunity for rich kids only

  14. this is great that its for charity, but to offer work to help you and have to pay a lot for it is a crazy idea

By JoFaulkner on 08/20/09 at 6:15 am
  15. Perhaps one of the three positions should be bid for to be donated to the charity. While the others are given to those most deserving/most qualified. This is a more diplomatic approach to this unnerving situation.

  16. ooook… this is very unfair,

i think is a joke to see who post the best comment telling how we will give all the money to the Health Center, haa, but if not then..the one who wins the internship will be a lauren conrad.
