Yea, Nay, Or Eh: Drew Barrymore On The Loose
August 20, 2009 4:53 pm
Wearing your button-down shirt open over a bathing suit is de rigueur on the streets of Capri and Saint-Tropez, but New York City? We’re all for Drew Barrymore’s cute pinstriped shirt and cuffed linen pants, which the actress wore to run errands in Manhattan earlier today. But would it have hurt to fasten an extra button or two? Is this look an acceptable measure to beat the summer heat or is it as out of place as wearing a thong bikini in Martha’s Vineyard?

I love Drew just as much as the next girl, but I have to give her a nay, especially in New York. Context is everything. This look would totally work on the West Coast. I still think she’s an amazing woman. Style, well that’s another thing.
By sabrina_nyc on 08/20/09 at 5:17 pmIt’s 8,000 degrees here. Let her wear whatever she wants!
By Geniusmetalworker on 08/20/09 at 5:49 pmI like it… it has that kind of Brigitte Bardot/ Holly Golightly just got outta bed look goin on. Drew also has a good figure so she doesnt need to hide it if she feels like flashing a little skin! xx
By la_coco_belle_88 on 08/20/09 at 7:52 pmlooks like P.J.’s…..NO.
By ChasePadilla on 08/20/09 at 8:10 pmShe makes so much money…she could spend her money on somthing nicer. Pajamas are for sleeping. As for the pants, those are frumpy and look like somthing the men wear in Europe (capris on men, not a good look) Overall a nay.

If she had buttoned her shirt, she wouldn’t have featured here! She is an actress and so it makes sense for her to do things differently, but for drew it looks like someone just jumped out of bed and rushed for a can of milk!

By fashionpicks on 08/21/09 at 1:41 amYou’re all kidding, right? Are New Yorkers really that conservative?
By shawanda on 08/21/09 at 2:48 amThe shirt is great and the one button quite innocent, just the pants are not too flattering. But comparing it with a thong bikini in Martha’s Vineyard… come on!
By opinion on 08/21/09 at 4:14 amCome on, why are you being so conservative? Ok the pants are not that great but who cares about the buttons? Maybe she didn’t feel to dress up, doesn’t it happen to you? She might be an actress but she’s a woman after all and sometimes it’s fine just to go easy
By annina66 on 08/21/09 at 5:07 amI do it on route to sunbathing at the gym roof
By styleicon1 on 08/22/09 at 10:47 amI’ve been doing it for years… but again I come from the tropics!
By styleicon1 on 08/22/09 at 10:49 amI agree with the posters who said a NAY, and for the others this has nothing to do with being conservative. It has everything to do with being fashionable or stylish. Now Drew looks like a lost mother desperately searching for her kid somewhere on street. In a hurry she put some clothes on, without thinking that some paparazzi could eventually take a picture of her. If you are a celeb act like one. Arriverderci
By Valerio on 08/22/09 at 2:03 pmDrew should be FINED! there are ways to beat the heat, this is not one of them. Her shoes are not right with this outfit, the shirt is too long for her body and pants. Either she has to tuck it in or lose the outfit. when in doubt wear a jersey dress with some sandals and call it a day
