Blame it on the Gossip Girl costume department, but Leighton Meester won our hearts with the fashionably prim getups she dons to play Blair Waldorf. As if to shake the notion that she lives in headbands, Meester has lately taken to showing up on red carpets in somewhat challenging ensembles (her Louis Vuitton Met ball outfit comes to mind). The Christopher Kane Resort dress she wore to a Hamptons event this weekend is not her most daring look, sure, but the cutouts and mushroom-cloud print don’t exactly qualify as “playing it safe.” We’re on the fence about this one. Should Meester’s adventurous spirit be applauded or is she better off sticking to a silhouette that works?

Leighton looks absolutely amazing in this entire outfit. The girl deserves an applause for going beyond her Blair Waldorf sense of style and wearing something completely new and refreshing. The color is absolutely amazing on her and the dress itself is stunning.
