30 Dresses

September 15, 2009  2:12 am

Laura Smalls grew up around fashion. Her mother, Dolores De Vega, who recently appeared on She’s Got the Look, was a model in the 1950’s. Now, with her own children almost all full-grown, Smalls is returning to her first passion. She launched her eponymous collection yesterday at Benoit, a French bistro in midtown, with a little help from Vogue’s André Leon Talley. Manolo Blahnik and Iradj Moini supplied the shoes and jewels, respectively, but even without their reflected glow, her well-made and well-priced dresses would shine on their own. Although she had a lot of color in her 30-look lineup, we say the next time you’re shopping for an anonymous little black dress, hers is a name to look out for.

  1. Fabulous dresses. Where can one purchase these dresses? They are beautiful. I’m looking to wear that white satin dress to my intimate January 2011 wedding. Lovely!!!

  2. Fabulous is so right! The dresses look sumptuous. I found info at laurasmalls.com, and my friend said she has an atelier in NYC
