Clive Owen, Just Your Average Dad

September 24, 2009  1:29 pm

He’s been a renegade and a secret agent, but Clive Owen is softening his rough edges for his latest film, The Boys Are Back, in which he plays a widowed sportswriter trying to raise two sons. It’s a decidedly unsexy role, but it’s closer to his reality, the actor (and father of two) explained at last night’s New York premiere. “It’s a different kind of film,” Owen said, dashingly clad in an Armani suit. “Parenting’s a big part of my life, so it felt very natural to me.” What’s it like to play house with one of Hollywood’s hottest leading men? According to Owen, who lives in London with his wife and tween-age daughters, it’s a gas. “I am the lowest status in my house, I can definitely tell you that,” he laughed. “The girls run the house. I’m just there to amuse them and for them to laugh at.”

  1. It is always interesting to look at famous faces from another point of view and seeing Clive Owen as “the lowest status” in his house and being “just there to amuse” definitely is a good balance to his popular screen characters.
