Fashion’s Night Out, The Milanese Way

September 11, 2009  10:51 am

Fashion’s Night Out combined two favorite Italian pastimes: la passeggiata (the stroll) and la bella figura (posing). Each store had its own following—Versace was for the Glamazons, who were in stiff competition against the mannequins in the shop’s windows. At Jil Sander we saw the Mod Squad, who flocked there to hear DJ Sunday Luv, who had flown in from Berlin. Of all the limited editions on sale, Jimmy Choo’s Green Thread Wedges (only 20 exist in the world) and Valentino’s extravagantly ruched tee were the most popular. “We were so excited to make an every-man’s couture piece,” said Pier Paolo Piccioli, one half of the new creative team at the maison. Late night, there were sushi and dancing at Giorgio Armani. The whole of the Italian star system was there, including Raoul Bova, who was having a bad hair day yet somehow still managed to stay jaw-droppingly handsome.
