Freewheeling Fashion’s Night Out

September 4, 2009  10:58 am

This has got to be one of the coolest FNO ideas we’ve heard so far. Edmundo Castillo is renting a black Winnebago, filling it with vintage Edmundo Castillo shoes, his Fall 2009 Edmundo Castillo for Narciso Rodriguez creations, and other accessories like necklaces and candles, and setting up his shop on wheels on the corner of Bond and Bowery in front of the Rogan store. That’s Castillo in the driver’s seat yesterday when he took it for a brief spin. “I moved it maybe a few inches. I was too scared I was going to trash the other vans,” he told us. “It’s gigantic.” The shoe designer is also working on a series of sketches dedicated to every country participating in Fashion’s Night Out; their proceeds will go to cancer research. You’ll recognize the van on September 10 by the huge neon signs on its sides advertising “SHOES! SHOES! SHOES!” See you there.
