Phillip Lim’s Rosy Outlook

September 1, 2009  10:40 am

Remember this dress? If you were living in New York in the summer of 2007, you clocked it everywhere. And if you’ve seen The September Issue, you probably noticed its cameo, and maybe even thought to yourself, like we did, “Oh, I wish I bought it when I had the chance.” Well, good news, 3.1 Phillip Lim fans. In honor of Fashion’s Night Out, the designer is pressing the rewind button and re-creating five signature pieces, including this one, from his last five years of work. Only this time around he’s whipping up the rosette-strewn shift in black jersey, not white. The special-edition archival pieces, which also include an oyster silk back-tie sleeveless top and a black silk drop-waist tunic dress, both accented by gunmetal paillettes, a mauve silk draped Grecian dress, and a black studded leather jacket with a tiered ruffle hem, will be unveiled on September 10, but there’s not a lot of them, so grab one when the grabbing’s good, from 6 to 11 p.m. at his New York, L.A., and Tokyo stores.
