As you ring in the new year, chances are you’ll have sequins on the brain. So do designers—and not just for the big night. The Spring ‘10 runways were positively gleaming. And while a shiny, strapless Isaac Mizrahi jumpsuit or a body-con mesh Pucci dress with sequin panels will require the right occasion, other looks are designed to bring glitter down to earth—see the spangled camo-print jeans at Balmain, Tory Burch’s slouchy paillette tee, or the shimmery shorts Richard Chai paired with a flak jacket.

I am a little tired of sequins and glitz and glam… they are nice as an accent, but I’m trying to steer clear of this trend for now. Too many chicks wearing it as it is!
By CoutureCookie on 12/30/09 at 1:19 pmYes on sequins for day and YES for Isaac Mizrahi, loved the show, but I really loved the clothes.

Overall I like this style but I have just some remarks. Oscar de la Renta the simplicity of the dress make it beautiful, Emilio Pucci a great design and an eyecatcher on whatever party especially if it worn by Natasha Poly. Just Cavalli vulgar as always but some people love that, Carlos Miele surprised me with this design actually the opposite of what he’s doing during his season shows. Despite that Donatella is a favorite of mine she disappointed me with this ensemble. She can do better. As I said before overall I like this style, but only woman with the right bodyshape should wear these. It flatters them more then a more curvie woman. I hope I don’t insult someone, if so I regret that and my apologize. Arrivederci

By _Monika_ on 12/30/09 at 10:59 pmI personally love sequins. But honestly, in my opinion to wear a large amount (such as a whole dress/shirt/pant) is for younger women/men around 35 or below. My favorite peices are the dresses and skirts. I just love them all!
By dizzydancer4fashion on 01/1/10 at 12:20 amI agree, too much shiny stuff, only looks alluring in a very obscure environment, and after all the cheap copies I’ve seen at New Years… it’s better to tone it down, glitz and glam??….even Vegas girls don’t wear their work clothes everywhere!!!
By GeesCees on 01/1/10 at 4:36 pmIn Hollywood on NYE almost every other girl was wearing a sequin dress. This season sequins are in! I personally like it and can wear sequins as long as there is a right occasion! http://www.sheglam.com

By ojhofer on 01/1/10 at 9:05 pmI love the glitter and sequins. The shine makes everything look more glamorous and feminine.
By sonia1021 on 01/2/10 at 2:48 pmthey add a nice touch when used properly but to much is TO much
By gppinkqueen on 01/3/10 at 12:34 amSequins are fabulous no matter what!
By lillyfbaby on 01/3/10 at 1:02 amTrend or no trend, mixing textured fabrics, including sequins, makes for cool style. Love Pucci’s take, totally wearable.

I love the sequins. Normally, I think they look to flashy and more Vegas then chic, but Isaac Mizrahi made it work and it really flowed with the dress.

By thebuzzonfashion on 01/3/10 at 8:59 pmI love this dress. I don’t normally like sequins, they usually come off looking too flashy and Vegas, but Isaac Mizrahi did a great job with them. He made them look beautiful and used them in a really artistic way.

Sequins look tacky. You can use fabric to achieve the shine and glamour desired, and look classy instead.
By KateJinx on 01/4/10 at 7:33 amI totally agree that, when used right, sequines are Fabulous!! I am all for sequines and textures…Hence, my new Knotty Cocktail Hat Line: http://www.etsy.com/shop/houseoftelsa
By houseoftelsa on 01/5/10 at 4:16 pmNever before would I ever consider sequin, until now! They are being used in some beautiful ways. I am all for it, as long as it is used in a tasteful way. I don’t want to look like a Christmas tree from the trailor park.
By dineKstyle on 01/5/10 at 9:16 pmWhen the sequin craze first came around, I was totally into it. Now every girl my age wears them because they’re flashy and glamorous. I’ve had a little too much of them, I’m making room for faux fur and nude colors!
By AmcQueen on 01/6/10 at 6:31 amI think shine is gorgeous and can be done in many different ways. I of course wanted to shine on new years but took it a different direction because I didn’t want to wear sequins like everyone else. I wore black leather pants and a loose black top with a large rhinestone choker.

Not a big fan of sequins, they remind me of tacky 80’s clothes. However Isaac Mizrahi’s black jumpsuit with the hat looked sharp. He and the ‘Confetti on Burberry’ brought classy to the tacky.
