Kros Encounters

December 24, 2009  9:17 am

“With every collection, we always want to see where Whitley’s traveling,” says Whitley Kros designer Marissa Ribisi of her Spring 2010 inspiration. “This time we were thinking a small Caribbean island.” For their Spring 2010 lookbook, Ribisi, co-designer Sophia Coloma, and photographer Tierney Gearson didn’t make it as far as the islands, but a rustic spread in Sunland, California fit the bill quite nicely. “The house had this perfect gypsy vibe, with this haphazard feel that’s been put together from years of collecting things,” Ribisi explained. As for the clothes themselves, there’s plenty worth adding to your own collection. Back are the best-selling printed tees, now paired with glittering obi belts and denim culottes. Sequined, strapless party dresses—a hit from their holiday collection—return, too, this time layered over the season’s can’t-live-without bateau stripes. And, of course, no Whitley Kros collection would be complete without a few prints, here in a delicate turquoise and lapis.

  1. thanks God they didn’t use the carribean as their inspiration. (Like that hasn’t been done a million times).

  2. I don’t know….it’s very ‘Betsy Ross meets Pirates of the Caribbean’. I’ve seen it all before.

  3. It’s been done, but it’s a look I’ve always liked so I’m happy to see it again.
