Rogan Gregory, Ladies’ Man

December 9, 2009  10:41 pm

You’ve got to hand it to Rogan Gregory. Though he seems cool, there’s a touch of P.T. Barnum lurking behind that unruffled exterior. On Tuesday night, for example, Gregory could be found at his store on the Bowery, playing ringmaster at Ladies’ Night. No two-for-one frozen margarita specials at this Ladies’ Night. Instead, Gregory had invited designers such as Leana Zuniga of Electric Feathers and Yara Flynn of Nomia to sell their wares alongside his at “ridiculously exciting one-night-stand prices,” as it said on the invite. Who could resist? Especially with the makeup artist giving free touch-ups…”Well, women are smarter than men,” explained Gregory, when asked why he’d decided to throw his lot in with the ladies for an evening. “I mean,” he added, catching himself, “about shopping. I mean, especially about shopping. I mean…I just thought it would be fun.” At that, Gregory backed away from the rhetorical landmines and into the back room. Of course, women are a) smarter, b) especially about shopping, and c) a more promising target for a razzle-dazzle holiday shopping event than their XY counterparts. Men’s Night Out? Not so much.
