Yea, Nay, or Eh?: Dreaming of a White Christmas

December 28, 2009  1:13 pm

While those of us in the Northeast were dodging snowdrifts this holiday weekend, a few of our luckier compatriots were hitting the beach. Tamara Mellon headed down to St. Bart’s for a little sand and sun—not to mention some fabulous company, like pals Marc and Lorenzo. And while the island paradise inspires some to a less-is-more fashion philosophy, Mellon’s sweet, eyelet-cut minidress feels refined. (The chunky, MObama-ish belt keeps things from getting too sugary.) The only real surprise here: flats on the president of Jimmy Choo! We guess even the boss deserves a vacation now and again. What do you think of TM’s warm-weather look?

  1. That look isn’t the most flattering beach ensemble I’ve ever seen. If I had access to the clothes and accessories these women have, those are not the things I would choose. What a waste.

  2. You can tell she pulled down the front so it could pass as a mini dress, but…it’s not. That belt doesn’t work. It was probably the only wide belt she had with her. It would have been better with a short chocolate brown bandage mini peeking out from underneath and maybe a simpler wide belt with sturdy hardware (not fake-y biker chic studs and rhinestones).

  5. This outfit is a big Ney, but I’m digging the animal print and white frames her friend is wearing.

  6. This eyelet top is redundant. She should have strolled sans that!Too much clothing on the beach is not very appealing.

  7. Are you sure it can count as a dress?

  8. I’m guessing anything going past the hips is considered a dress?

and couldn’t agree more with adhikari.

  9. Oh I don’t like this. Looks very messy and not at all classy or chic. I wouldn’t call that a dress either, but it is pretty on its own, just not worn that way.

  10. I think this is a hit and miss. The tunic with out the belt would look better, more casual. The belt makes it look like she was trying to pull something together and failed.
