Many people stop announcing their birthdays quite as loudly once they head north of 35, but not Rachel Roy: The designer turns 36 on January 15 and she wants everyone to know it. (If we were as gorgeous as she is, we might want everyone to know it, too.) The announcement, though, comes for all the right reasons: In lieu of having a party or accepting gifts this year, Roy is requesting donations be made to Charity: Water to bring clean drinking water to those in need. The goal is $15,000; almost $3,000 has been raised so far, by Rachel herself and a few generous—not to mention familiar—well-wishers. We’d never be so crass as to name names (for that, you’ll have to click through to her donation page). Let’s just say a gift will not only bring you good karma, but put you in good company, too.
