Amelia may have been a box office bomb, but the movie is proving to be a fashion bonanza. Acne’s pre-fall collection for 2010 pays homage to pilot Amelia Earhart, with jumpsuits, bomber jackets in shearling and leather, and flapped caps inspired by vintage flight gear. (Longtime brand devotees, never fear: There’s plenty of skinny denim here, too, whether or not Earhart would’ve squeezed it on.) With Up in the Air still drawing raves, it’s looking like we’re in the midst of a serious aviation moment, but leave it to creative director Johnny Johansson to think of everything: His new line of couches, unveiled in Paris yesterday, ensures you’ve got a nice soft landing place, too.
