Yea, Nay, or Eh?: Cotillard’s Cold Shoulder

It may be January, but it’s still a balmy 75 degrees in Palm Springs, where Marion Cotillard hit the Palm Springs International Film Festival Gala last night to pick up a Desert Palm Achievement Award. (It was presented by her Nine director, Rob Marshall.) The Dior face takes a night off from her patron’s label, opting for a one-shoulder Elie Saab cocktail dress that has us shivering with envy here on the East Coast. Half-strapless dresses can be tough to pull off, but we think this basic black number—minimally accessorized with a single cuff and little makeup—is a beauty. What do you think: Do you like Cotillard’s boldly bare look, or should she run for cover?
