Jac Of All Trades

February 19, 2010  11:00 am

With NYFW officially over, the modelizers can take to their ledgers for the early tallies before London, Paris, and Milan. It’s been a good New York season for many girls, with strong showings by Jacquelyn Jablonski, Freja Beha Erichsen, and Mirte Maas, but the girl of the week may turn out to be Jac, whom we pegged as a rising star this time last year. The Polish-born strutter walked in almost every big show, including Marc Jacobs, Alexander Wang, Rodarte, Rag & Bone, Reed Krakoff, and Oscar de la Renta, but what really impressed us were her openings. She was first girl out at four separate shows (as many as any other mannequin we’ve seen)—the hotly tipped Altuzarra and the holy trinity of American sportswear: Calvin, Donna, and Ralph.

  1. She looks truly gorgeous. I love the vibe she gives off, it really makes the clothes look appealing. Especially in the Rag & Bone sale, she makes me want to turn around and wait for everything she’s wearing to show up on Gilt at 70% off and buy it all! (and Alexander Wang. And Marc Jacobs. And even Oscar de La Renta)http://www.gilt.com/invite/brianty1

  2. ms. jac is doing absolutely smashingly - she has the edge over most of the last 1/2 runway generation (i.e., two full seasons?), i think, because she is one of the most beautiful since, err natalia vodianova, along with, perhaps, errrr anabela belikova, siri tollerod, karmen pedaru, sigrid agren & abbey lee !! also, she contrasts with sterner and more formidable faces, who are currently dominating the runways - i ranked jac a 4th-place tie in the january couture shows, as follows: 1st place, with an amazing 6 couture appearances, austrian superstar iris strubegger, opening and closing armani prive, opening givenchy, 4th-to-last for jean paul gaultier; and walking elie saab, chanel & dior; 2d place, also 6 shows, is a tie between 3 beautiful superstars who hold up the runways with their longstanding appearances, but not necessarily in the most prominent positions: flower-like siri tollerod of norway; calm, reassuring kasia struss (poland); and imperial kamila filipcikova of slovakia - 3rd place has to go to endearing karlie kloss, who rivalled (or even outdid) strubegger for prominence, opening both saab and dior, closing gaultier, and 2d and 2d-to-last for armani - 4th place would be a tie between 10 extraordinary women who also managed 4 shows: karmen pedaru, shu pei qin, magdalena fracowiak, & frida gustavsson (newer face) & marlena szoka (even newer), with special mention for more prominent positions, to sigrid agren, elsa sylvan, maria kashleva, & (newer faces) jac & anastasia kuznetsova !! \,,/ twitter
