FEED For Thought In Aspen

March 17, 2010  1:32 pm

Aspen fashion week, which runs through Friday, is a showcase of the latest high-tech outerwear. But Lauren Bush, for one, has been keeping it simple, releasing a new FEED charity bag last night—a mere canvas tote, imagine that—and keeping a low fashion profile on the slopes.

The bag helps feed Haiti earthquake victims and debuted last night at Aspen’s Ralph Lauren store, where Bush and her family (mom Sharon, brother Pierce, sister Ashley) were cooling their heels after a perfectly sunny day. Following “a bit of a spill” on Monday, Bush was hitting the slopes helmeted and, of course, in full Ralph regalia. “It’s very classic ski gear, which is my style,” she said. “I don’t know if I want to be a neon blob spiraling down the mountain.” Of the family skiers, she told us, Pierce is the fastest—not to mention the thriftiest. In a town where “street style” often involves furs that cost as much as the private flight in, he hit the slopes in a retro blue jacket he’d bought secondhand for six bucks.
