Missoni Hits Rodeo

Angela, Angelena. Mrs. Missoni was in L.A. to toast the opening of her family’s new Rodeo Drive boutique, and—even without her luggage, which was lost in transit—she seemed right at home. “I always felt like Missoni was perfect for L.A. because it’s glamorous but relaxed,” the designer said. “Because it’s so sunny here, the store had to be fresh.” That it is. The 7,500-square-foot shop features a white aluminum facade, custom wood, lacquer and steel furnishings, and a structure that glows at night via its interior lights. And, more importantly, the label’s women’s, men’s, accessories, swimwear, and home collections. Margherita Missoni was on hand, too, to represent the next generation, and like her mother, clearly gets the L.A. lifestyle—she hits the beach and the vintage at The Way We Wore when she swoops into town. But it’s the party line before the parties: “It’s very impressive, and I love how it’s like a little Missoni world,” Margherita said of the new store, where her own work is on sale. “It’s the first time I’m seeing the sunglasses I designed on display,” she told us. “I feel proud like, Wow, I did that.”
