Tom Taps Top Talent, Beckham Borrows, And More…

Tom Ford is reportedly building his women’s team by poaching top designers from Alexander McQueen and Givenchy. Hard to blame him. We’ve always said the guy had good taste. [WWD]

Speaking of good taste, speculation is running rampant that Victoria Beckham “borrowed” the design for her column gown from fellow English designer Osman Yousefzada. Reached for comment, Yousefzada seems to be taking it all very graciously, as you too might if Victoria Beckham got your line more press in a single act of plagiarism than you had in its entire existence. Carla Bruni-Sarkozy will take some time out of her busy French first-lady schedule to guest-edit this Saturday’s edition of the French mag Madame Figaro, which will include sketches by Jean Paul Gaultier and Karl Lagerfeld. [WWD]

Of course VB ripped him off as she does others. The truth will out soon once all involved have got over themselves. However, Osman is brilliant and this might do him no end of good.

That’s the problem with these socalled designers like Mrs. Beckham, by a lack of creativity or inspiration they “borrow” from others, if it is a welknown or lesser welknown designer. She’s not the only celeb who act like a designer, but actually can’t even nail a button on a shirt.
