More Is More From Surface To Air

April 27, 2010  3:41 pm

Once upon a time, Surface to Air was a Paris-based denim line, more or less—there were creative side projects here and added extras there, but the word that reached U.S. soil was denim. (And the word was good.) The brand has been expanding over recent seasons, and its Fall 2010 offering is the biggest—and, we’d humbly opine—best yet. Denim is still here, but so too are tailored jackets in disco-ready Lurex; photo-print tees, dresses, and skirts; slouchy knits; and proper grown-up coats (plus the now-requisite cape). Further evidence S2A is ready to play with the big boys: Its shoe collection, kick-started by last season’s must-have multi-buckle sandal, has grown to include booties, pumps, and lace-ups, and those new knits are all made in the factories that produce Givenchy (the women’s) and Rick Owens (the men’s). Hard to get bigger than that.
