Season Of The Stitch

April 5, 2010  1:49 pm

Now that the sun’s out, knitters everywhere are packing up their needles for the season. Not the girls at Wool and the Gang: The knit wits over there are taking a stand for summer purling, introducing new “Shiny Happy Cotton” yarn and a collection to go with it that’s cool, literally and figuratively. The new cotton—100 percent Peruvian pima, and done for the season in a washed-out palette of ivory, marine blue, and nude, along with the standard Wool and the Gang neutrals—is glossy, lightweight, and designed to be knit with the great big needles recommended for novices (and included in the line’s DIY kits). The six new styles this season include the Coco Chanel-inspired short-sleeved, striped Marinière sweater (pictured), the skimpy Tala tank, the Sweet Gigi bra, and the Lucky Lili necklace, the first piece of Wool and the Gang jewelry.

Wool and the Gang kits, with yarn, needles, and instructions, are available at www.woolandthegang.com.

  1. Pieces of knitting are excellent additions to a wardrobe. Scarves, skirts, blouses and dresses, for example, can easily be combined together or with other pieces to form casual outfits or to work in any season. The colors and models are numerous and elegant style never goes out of fashion.

  2. Never been a fan of wearing knits when it’s sunny, however I am going to have to reconsider that after reading this!
