Stella Does His ‘N’ Hers
She doesn’t do a men’s collection (yet?), but Stella McCartney will make your guy a suit if the price is right. Provided, that is, the price goes toward one of her favorite causes, the environment. McCartney is one of many designers, actors, retailers, and brands who have donated their time and talent to Christie’s Green Auction, an Earth Day effort worth splurging on. The carbon-neutral live auction—the world’s first, by the way—will take place next Thursday, and be broadcast live on www.christies.com. Bids are already being accepted for the accompanying silent auction, where you can make a go at Stella and her needle. The winning bidder will receive a fitting with Stella for two bespoke suits made of sustainable fabric—one for your guy and one for you. It won’t come cheap (estimated value is $30,000) but the birds, bees, land, and sea will all thank you; profits from the auction (for which Christie’s is waiving all of its fees and commissions) will be divided between the Central Park Conservancy, Conservation International, NRDC, and Oceana. Other lots include a day on set with Hugh Jackman, a custom-made Nina Ricci scent, passes to Vanity Fair‘s annual Oscar party, and a master class in falconry with RFK, Jr. Because, of course, you’ve already taken the beginner’s course on that one.
