Blasblog: Flower Power

So far, Erdem Moralioglu has had a pretty fabulous 2010. There have been the multiple red-carpet appearances (thanks, Keira Knightley!), a fabulous Fall show during London fashion week, and the BFC/Vogue Fashion Fund award. So his friend Lauren Santo Domingo thought it would be nice to host a little soirée for the designer on the Upper East Side’s Le Grenouille on Friday afternoon. With the restaurant’s famous flower decorations, it turned out to be the perfect setting for an artist who is so often drawn to floral prints—right down to the ones on the Smythson notebooks he gave to attendees. (They complemented Santo Domingo’s, Fabiola Beracasa’s, and Lizzie Tisch’s Erdem dresses.) “Two of my favorite things,” Santo Domingo toasted, “are beautiful dresses and springtime—and we’ve got both of those here today.” The guest of honor, who had arrived just the day before, was slightly jetlagged, but it was nothing a handful of New York’s chicest young ladies couldn’t pep him out of. He later told me that a post-lunch spin through Marina Abramovic’s rather risqué show at MoMA—the one the style set has been flocking to—also helped keep his eyes open, so to speak.
