Getting Into The Tory Groove
Tory Burch’s second limited-edition mix CD is now available, and I, for one, am excited. Her first, which was released around Christmastime in 2008 and, like this one, benefited the Tory Burch Foundation, is a total gem. I put it on whenever friends come over and pretend that it’s me, not the designer, who has such excellent and groovy taste. If you’ve never heard Peter Sarstedt’s “Where Do You Go to My Lovely,” I recommend a trip to youtube.com asap. The new disc has an equally eclectic lineup: Santigold, the Smiths, Kanye West, and the Neville Brothers are all here; and the Sarstedt of the mix is Michael Franti. Burch has been a fan of his music since his days in Disposable Heroes. “He’s one of those people who’re trying to change the world,” she told us, “and his lyrics, especially on ‘Hello Bonjour,’ are so inspirational and real. Read a Q&A between the designer and the musician and buy the CD on Burch’s Web site.
