Yea, Nay, Or Eh: Is 3.1 A Perfect 10?

Fairly or not, Alexis Bledel will always be a Gilmore Girl to us. But that hasn’t stopped her from stepping out, in the years since her show ended, in some pretty forward-thinking (i.e., not-too-Rory) designer pieces. At last night’s IFP gala and dinner, the actress made the rounds in a Spring 2010 3.1 Phillip Lim dress that’s anything but preppy. The paneled, lace-embellished gown could’ve overwhelmed the petite Texan, but we think she pulls it off, especially with her strappy black and nude sandals, which pick up the piped detailing at the bustline. With so much dress, we think she’s smart to go for a fresh-faced look, little jewelry, and barely-styled hair. If she keeps it up, we’ll even have to revise our initial opinion. What do you think? Is Bledel ready for the big leagues?

    no way.

The choice sounds particulary good – if she does keep it ‘this’ way, there should be a handful of very good names to pick futuristic txtyle constructions from. I have a feeling things are only going to get better, too. Way to go!

Btw, spaking of accessories – are those contact lenses?

the dress is certainly interesting, but i can’t say it looks particularly chic or tailored, and the color palette is un-reassuring – even arch-dainty siberian, evelina mambetova, couldn’t quite pull off the original, in the spring show – from the talented mr. lim, i prefer something a little more soothing, like this graceful opening outfit from fall 2008, presented by hyoni kang \,,/ twitter
