YSL Goes For The Gold

May 13, 2010  12:37 pm

Among accessory obsessives, YSL is a gold standard. Call it a cute joke, then, or an excusable bit of bragging, that for the relaunch of the e-shop at YSL.com, the label is reissuing some of its new classics—in gold. The Tribute Too pump, Tribute sandal, and Muse bag all come in for a gilding in online-only metallic versions that should set mice a-clicking. (Insert your own worth-their-weight-in joke here—these babies don’t come cheap.) For (browser) window shoppers of more limited means, there are new options here as well. YSL loves a tote—it distributes its Manifesto campaigns every fashion week around the world in collectible bags that quickly become hotly pursued eBay lots—but you don’t need to be in New York, London, or Paris to get the new Safety Pin version. It pays tribute to Saint Laurent’s luxe-ification of the humble fastener in his 1968 haute couture show.

Pump, $895; sandal, $790; and tote, $195, available exclusively at www.ysl.com.

  1. I love the idea of metallic accessories by being neutrals and greats to give a powerful charm to the looks, but when it comes to footwears, I like especially of the sandals models of heels with thin strips and delicate, making a fantastic mix of sophistication and femininity.
