Yea, Nay, Or Eh? Last Stop On The Sex And The City Express

-------

If the four stars of Sex and the City 2 have been dogged by their two weeks of nonstop international travel—or the, ahem, less-than-stellar reviews and weak opening numbers the film has received—you couldn’t tell from today’s Tokyo premiere. The ladies went all-out for the last stop on their worldwide premiere tour, and no one more so than Sarah Jessica Parker. SJP chose a voluminous Vivienne Westwood dress for the Japanese event, a sly nod, perhaps, to Dame Viv’s large role in the first SATC flick. (Carrie got married—almost—in an enormous Vivienne Westwood gown.) The chintzy floral is a great print for spring, with brilliant flashes of yellow set off by her golden belt and blush Charlotte Olympia pumps. Yellow’s been a good color for Parker lately: We loved her sunny Valentino Couture for the NYC premiere, too. We’d say the whole look’s a proper sendoff to Carrie (at least until SATC 3, of course). What do you think? Did SJP save the best for last?

I think that look is stunning. SJP really does know what she is doing (or maybe just has a really, really great stylist). She doesn’t fit into the subset of celebrity designers, she actually has an eye for it and carries a genuine, bubbly confience that goes well with anything. As for the outfit, while the dress really supports summer (with the flowy, flowery fabric) and the recent “bust-boom” (a la Louis Vuitton), the neckalace is a bit too decadent for the outfit, don’t you think?

the dress is absolutely gorgeous, and ms. sarah jessica parker looks wonderful in it – my first guess was dolce & gabbana in the style of, e.g., the spring 2008 show, e.g., on garbo-esque snejana onopka http://www.style.com/fashionshows/complete/slideshow/S2008RTW-DGABBANA?event=show1622&designer=design_house251&trend=&iphoto=54 – not being a specialist of the great dame vivienne westwood, i would not have guessed it, and it looks a little more edgy as presented by interesting model merlin http://www.style.com/fashionshows/complete/slideshow/F2010RTW-VWESTWOOD?event=show2062&designer=design_house968&trend=&iphoto=50, who i gather is interesting new model mary benson, with this site and a backstage photo http://marybenson.blogspot.com/ !! \,,/ twitter
