L.A., The Charlotte Ronson Way

-------

Not only does she juggle her eponymous label and I Heart Ronson, her secondary line for JCPenney, Charlotte Ronson also recently inked a deal to roll out 200 CR stores in Asia over the next five years. It’s Phase I of the Ronson family plan for world domination—and we’re only mostly kidding.

Of course, even a budding fashion mini-mogul needs her R&R, and for that, Ronson heads for L.A. (a city where even Pilates studios offer valet parking). Between the vibrant city and her twin, Samantha, living in West Hollywood, Ronson’s become something of a fixture on the JFK-LAX red-eye. And while her West Coast likes (the weather) and dislikes (the traffic) are pretty standard, her go-to hang outs here are anything but. On her most recent sojourn, Ronson toted a camera along with her to give Style.com an off-the-beaten track guide to her favorite spots in the City of Angels. Her photo diary includes stops at an airbrush nail salon and a gun range. Frommer’s, this is not.

“I have watched too many episodes of Cops—I can’t resist the gun range. My friend Will first took me to the LAX firing range and taught me how to hold and shoot a gun. I shot a 9mm Beretta semi-automatic, a .38 Smith and Wesson revolver, and a .45 Smith and Wesson semi-automatic. It was both frightening and exhilarating.”

Malibu (below)
“I love spending time with my friends at the beach. There is something very 90210 about it. But Malibu is also so fun even if it’s not a beach day. The Country Mart has so many great shops and people-watching, and the Lumber Yard is home to Café Habana—their mayonnaise-drenched corn is my absolute favorite.”

The Arclight
“For so many reasons…any movie theater that you can preorder seats and have caramel popcorn is a favorite of mine. Also, if the movie sucks, you can always get a drink at the bar.”
Arclight Hollywood Cinema, 6360 West Sunset Boulevard, L.A., (323) 464-4226.

CT Nails #9 by David (below)
“The design options are endless. Such a fun activity with friends, they don’t really have anywhere like this in NYC so it’s always an L.A. stop for me. Last time I got a sunset/landscape.” (Pictured, from left to right: Hilary Rosenman, Charlotte, and Lesley Arfin.)

Sushi Nozawa
“Mr. Nozawa knows best. He always gets the first pick at the fish market and he is all about manners and Japanese real-style sushi.”
Sushi Nozawa, 11288 Ventura Boulevard, Suite C, Studio City, Calif., (818) 508-7017.

Beverly Hills Juice (below)
“I always get the carrot-coconut juice with banana, almond, and a shot of E3 Live BrainOn. It’s my version of a milkshake.”

Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf
“Vanilla Iced Blendeds. OK, so this is not original but I always get them and crave them when I’m here.”

Square One (below)
“The best brunch in L.A. The French toast actually melts in your mouth.”
