On Our Radar: Pamela Love Fall ‘10

July 27, 2010  1:05 pm

Her star’s on the rise—there’s that CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Award nomination, for starters—but Pamela Love’s outlook, at least to judge from her jewelry, is still reliably macabre. Her new collection for Fall has just arrived at Opening Ceremony, and the mood is a little dark. There are more of the animal-inspired pieces with which she made her name, like a bronze-cast eagle’s claw, as well as pieces inspired by trips to Mexico and the American Southwest and the melding of Mexican and American Indian cultures she found there. The milagro, or Catholic folk charm, she told Opening Ceremony, was especially important—hence the sacred hearts, like the one in this Three of Swords necklace (pictured). It combines the religious emblem with one of the tarot deck’s darkest cards. A little creepy, but very cool. Here’s hoping Love never perks up.
Three of Swords necklace, $500, available at www.openingceremony.us.
